About New Path Sex Addiction
New Path Sex Addiction is a fully online practice for people whose lives have been disrupted by compulsive sexual behavior — the person struggling with the behavior, the partner who has discovered it, and the couple trying to work out whether there is a way forward together. Sex addiction can shake the foundation of a relationship. Recovery is possible, and it is possible for both people, though rarely on the same timeline.
Our platform is 100% online, which removes two of the most common reasons people never get help: the distance to a specialist who actually understands this problem, and the exposure of sitting in a waiting room in your own town. You can begin from home, at a time you choose.
Three different people, three different paths
The first question we ask is who is looking for treatment, because the answer changes almost everything that follows.
If you are the one struggling. The work is not willpower, and it is not shame. It is understanding what the behavior is doing for you, what triggers it, and what has to be rebuilt underneath it so that it is no longer needed. Start with help for addicts, read about sex addiction and pornography addiction, or look at the different types of sex addiction.
If you are the partner. What you are experiencing is not overreaction and it is not jealousy — it is betrayal trauma, and it has its own clinical shape, its own symptoms, and its own path through. Start with support for partners, read about the stages of partner recovery, or read about intrusive thoughts, which are one of the most distressing and least discussed parts of this experience.
If you are both. Couples work in this area is not ordinary couples therapy, and starting it too early can do harm. Read about our approach to couples recovery and about relapse, which is one of the questions couples most need an honest answer to.
Free assessments
If you are not sure whether what you are dealing with rises to the level of addiction, or how badly trust has been damaged, our assessments are a place to start. They are free, they take a few minutes, and nothing is published anywhere.
The Sex Addiction Assessment and the Sexual Addiction Screening Test are for the person concerned about their own behavior. The Betrayed Partner Assessment and the Trust and Betrayal Scale are for partners.
An assessment is a starting point for a conversation, not a diagnosis. What it gives you is language for something that has probably been very hard to put into words.
Free courses
We publish two full course programs at no cost, both available from the Learning Center.
The Recovery Course is for the person working on their own compulsive behavior — a structured, module-by-module program covering how the addiction developed, what maintains it, and what recovery actually requires week to week.
The Healing Course is written for betrayed partners, and treats partner trauma as the primary injury it is rather than as a side effect of someone else's problem.
Both are free, both can be worked through at your own pace, and neither requires you to be a client. You can also browse our videos and resources.
Treatment
For those who want to work with a therapist, our treatment overview explains how care is structured and what to expect. We also offer intensives for situations where weekly sessions are not enough or not fast enough — typically in the acute period right after discovery.
You can read about our team, look at the numbers behind this problem, or read our frequently asked questions. We also cover more specific ground, including sex addiction and the neurodivergent brain.
If your life has just changed
If you have just discovered something, or just been discovered, the days immediately afterward are the hardest and the least clear-headed. Almost nothing has to be decided this week. What helps most in that period is accurate information and one person who knows this territory.
The pain is very real. So is the hope. When you are ready, get started here.
